WHAT IS A GROUP VISIT
The weight of the growing number of patients with chronic disease is bearing down hard upon the U.S. population, the number of physicians in the country are dwindling – leaving providers with more patients and less time. Delivering quality care to every single patient is rapidly becoming an impossible task. The solution to the problem is easily verbalized: providers need more time with each patient. But, with some providers already seeing as many as 35 patients a day – is finding “extra” time even possible?
Providers need more time with patients.
Patients need more time with providers.
Group visits (GV), also known as shared medical appointments, have become the viable solution for healthcare providers struggling to find the time to deliver the highest quality care to an ever-growing number of patients plagued by chronic illness. GVs offer the opportunity for a clinician to see multiple patients as a group for follow-up or routine care. These visits can be insurance billable or cash based and provide a secure but interactive setting. In this setting, patients not only have access to their providers, but they can learn from the first-hand experiences of their fellow group members and receive well-rounded advice.

She is internationally known for her contributions on the development and institution of the lifestyle-based group medical appointment model and has been awarded for her work with her online patient university, Living Wellness University. By marrying the science of healing with the art of patient education and partnership, she is creating opportunities for patients and healthcare providers to get back to the sacred healing relationship that was once a vital part of her noble profession.
Dr. Saxena graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine through the prestigious Junior Honors Medical Program, completed her Family Practice residency training at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida while serving as Chief Resident and receiving additional Certification in Low Risk Obstetrics. She solidified her understanding of the continuum of health and disease but saw so many missed opportunities for disease reversal when caring for the rural and urban underserved families of North Jacksonville.
Inspired to create a doctor’s office that offered all the meaningful components of good patient care, she opened the SevaMed Institute, applying her core principle of ‘Patients Powered by Knowledge.’ Her practical approach, then and now, focuses on treating and reversing the root causes of illness, the obvious solution to the chronic disease epidemic. Her extraordinary patient outcomes have attracted the attention of local, national and international patient and physician communities who are equally motivated to transform healthcare.
She enjoys supporting her local community through her cutting-edge corporate wellness programs, free community workshops, and her group medical appointments.
